As a child, I was always eager for the arrival of ‘sweet June.’ School was ending, and that meant no more homework. It also meant afternoons were spent running through a sprinkler instead of our locker bays.
As we grow older, life has a way of speeding up. Before we know it, those delightful childhood afternoons, that seemed to drag on endlessly, are now fond memories to be revisited forever in our minds.
True love can have similar results – our entire life path and direction can transform in what feels like one brilliant moment. And, if we’re not careful, we can overlook the special moments and details that truly are worth appreciating.
Hi! I’m Paris Bucciachio (don’t bother trying to pronounce my last name) and I’m the owner of Sweet June Weddings. As you’ve probably already guessed, I work in the rewarding world of weddings and everything to do with them.
I never dreamt that my path would lead to wedding planning. Growing up, I was your typical Gen Y Millennial girl; from dreaming of being a Disney princess and finding my prince charming to Spice Girls girl power and Barbie. In high school, I knew I wanted to be in the creative space, and the above cultural influences really helped guide me into the makeup artistry and hair styling industries. The stage was set.
For years, I worked in retail cosmetics while freelancing wedding makeup on the weekends. I met so many beautiful brides, gleaning with pride and joy. I heard their romantic stories and how special this day was to them. I felt an amazing sense of gratification and pride by helping to make them look and feel their best on this once-in-a-lifetime day. But I wanted more.
With every passing wedding, I wanted to be more involved; from helping to pick out the flower arrangements and favours, deciding on what meals paired with the décor, what flavour the wedding cake should be, and even, where the two most important words would be declared. It was so natural for me.
It wasn’t until 2016, when I met my husband that everything began to fall into place – ladies and gentlemen, online dating does sometimes have a magical ending!
Not much later, we were engaged, and I was finally in charge. I was the bride, and I was going to plan my entire dream wedding, from start to finish. We began with a high tea bachelorette party then washed it down with some tacos and tequila and eventually cruised into those final words at a wonderful venue, the Ancaster Mill. I loved every minute of those months of planning and then seeing it all play out perfectly. It definitely helped that I was marrying my best friend, but it was also a curse. I knew I would never be a bride again, but I loved the rush.
So, that was it. I was hooked. Our wedding was the beginning of me finding my passion, and the catalyst that pushed me to pursue it completely.
It was intimidating at first, but my years of experience in the wedding industry helped to make the transition much easier.
Obstacles are a part of every business and wedding planning is no exception. However, I’ve found that my biggest hurdle is not in the job description. In fact, the biggest challenge takes place before an agreement is even signed – helping couples see just how important my services are. There are hundreds of reasons, but I’ll leave it to this.
Wedding planners are your eyes and ears for your wedding – we’re the insiders. The whole wedding experience should be a joyous one for you both. Such an important and new challenge, although very rewarding, can be a source of some serious stress. A wedding is harder to execute than Pinterest might have us believe!
That’s where I come in. Sweet June Weddings is the culmination of my experience, passion, and dreams. I work intimately with couples to execute their love story and ensure their sweet June is as memorable as mine.
